About the Nigerian Center

The Nigerian Center is the first immigrant and cultural center for the Nigerian diaspora. Proudly serving the largest Black immigrant group in the United States. The center was established to provide a connection to the Nigerian culture while offering financial inclusion and social justice opportunities for members of the Nigerian American community in the United States. We educate, empower, uplift, and assist immigrant families in acclimating to life in the United States. We accomplish this through minority and immigrant advocacy, cultural and language classes, legal aid services, small business support and homeownership opportunities.

Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate and oversee the Nigerian Center's financial education workshop series, aimed at equipping community members with essential financial skills and knowledge.

  •  Manage and operate a walk-in community financial services clinic, providing personalized financial guidance and support to individuals in need.

  • Supervise and mentor financial professional volunteers, ensuring the delivery of high-quality services to our community.

  • Collaborate with team members to identify and recruit knowledgeable speakers for educational programs, workshops, and seminars.

  • Establish, build, and maintain strong partnerships with strategic partners, governmental agencies, and donors to expand the scope and impact of financial inclusion initiatives.

  • Develop innovative strategies to enhance the financial well-being of our community members, particularly focusing on immigrant and underserved populations.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Business Administration, or a related field (relevant experience may be considered in lieu of formal education).

  • Proven experience in financial education, community engagement, or related fields.

  • Strong organizational and project management skills with the ability to handle multiple responsibilities simultaneously.

  • Excellent communication and presentation abilities, capable of engaging diverse audiences.

  • Demonstrated leadership skills to effectively manage and motivate a team of volunteers.

  • Familiarity with financial services, resources, and programs available to support community members.

  • Experience in partnership building and networking within the non-profit or social services sector is a plus.
