About Event (In-person)

Join us for an informative Voter Education Workshop specifically designed for non-citizens and immigrants who are residents of Washington, DC. With the recent change in legislation, non-citizens are now eligible to vote in DC local elections. This workshop, hosted by the Nigerian Center in collaboration with the District of Columbia Board of Elections (DCBOE), will provide you with everything you need to know to exercise your new voting rights confidently.

During the workshop, you will:

  • Learn about the voter registration process and how to participate in local elections.

  • Understand the legal implications of voting as a non-citizen, including how it does not affect your prospects of becoming a permanent resident or U.S. citizen.

  • Receive guidance from representatives of the DC Election Board on what to expect on election day.

The Nigerian Center offers 1-on-1 immigration consultation with a team of immigration lawyers who specialize in a broad range of areas. Learn more at nigeriancenter.org/immigration
